BIOGRAPHY

Luke Pinkstone is an incredibly accomplished musician based in North London, constantly in demand for tours, live gigs, recording sessions and teaching.


Luke’s performing highlights include performances with Tom Grennan (supporting Stereophonics), Molotov Jukebox, award winning swing band Down For The Count, Hackney Colliery Band (described by BBC Radio 2 as "One of the greatest live bands we have in this country"), and 'The Billy Joel Songbook' with Elio Pace which included a tour with David Brown (Billy Joel's lead guitarist 1978-1991). Luke has also featured on many recording releases for artists including; Charlie Pyne Quartet, Down For The Count, Elio Pace, and Tom Wright (including arranging/recording horns).

Luke has performed at iconic venues such as Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Buckingham Palace, Vortex Jazz Club, Spice of Life, Electric Ballroom Brixton, Union Chapel, The Stables Wavendon, Sage Gateshead, Leeds Castle (in front of an audience of 10,000), and has regular gigs at The Ivy Club in Soho. Luke has performed live on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio London, and has appeared in television productions including Masters of the Air: Apple TV+ (studio audio recording and on-screen musician), The Tourist: BBC (remote audio recording), and independent horror film The Creeping (remote audio recording).

 

Luke can be found regularly playing jazz gigs, doing pit work in theatre shows, and gigging with function bands across the country. Luke plays all the saxophones, piccolo, flute and clarinet, and has played numerous theatre shows, including regular productions with Emil Dale Academy.

Luke studied BA Jazz at Middlesex University where he was taught by some of UK's top jazz musicians including Rob Townsend, Nikki Iles, Stuart Hall and Chris Batchelor. Since graduating, Luke has taken master classes with flute virtuoso Jose Zalba-Smith and former saxophonist of Buena Vista Social Club, Irakere and Cubanismo: Javier Zalba.
